![]() ![]() they will gain levels and get small bonuses. McMMO: This is a levelling system for Minecraft, as people mine excavate woodcut etc. Jobs: Allows people to have jobs on the server to make money, make sure to limit the levels though otherwise people will get rich quick! Vault: Simple hook-in plugin for economies, almost always necessary. IConomy: One of the best Eco-format plugins around, necessary if your creating an economy on the server. Orefuscator: (Might be an inaccurate name) this is anti-X-ray, it's highly recommended!!!ĬoreProtect: if someone griefs in the server, you can use this to find out EXACTLY who it was and when, very useful!ĬhestShop: This is part of an economy on the server, it allows people to make shops and sell goods to each other. WorldEdit: This is a mass editing tool which tends to be used by admins to make large spawned in creations, no more single block placing like X360! LWC: (Light-Weight Chest protection) This is a basic security plugin to protect your chests when you place them, there are a lot of options players can do for this, it is very recommended for public servers. Also you can set 'SafeZones' which are invulnerable protected plots of land, good for covering spawn with etc. Another useful mod is NEI (not enough inventory) this is because you can view crafting recipes and the chunks in a multiplayer world, which helps with other plugins (ie Factions).Ī few good notable plugins: Essentials+Group Manager: This will give you a lot of useful basic utilities in your server, such as a bit of world protection and GroupManager offers a lot of permissions based help, basically controlling what commands and things people can do in the server.įactions: This is a land protection plugin which can be customised in numerous ways, you can make people able to fight for Faction power to take each-others land, or you can give people set amount of chunk claiming rights permanently. Okay, I'm gonna write loads down, and hopefully you understand it, if you don't feel free to PM me ) also sorry if I repeat what someone else has said.įTP: File-Transfer Protocol, your server host will probably feature this, using FileZilla, you can save yourself a lot of strain by editing the files yourself normally.Ī mod is client-side addition to minecraft, it means the minecraft client needs to be edited, if you are running a 'modded' server (one which has modified the actual craftbukkit.jar) then everyone on the server will need to download the mod to their client first.Ī plugin is a server side addition, this can be added to the plugins folder in bukkit (normally a JAR file, sometimes with a folder but normally they're created on running the server)Ī good MOD for a minimap is Rei's MiniMap mod, not sure if its updated yet. That's just an example of how it can be used. If the distance is over 8 blocks, the target event is cancelled, so the zombie doesn't chase the player. For example, recently I made an event that would calculate the distance between an entity and the player when the entity targets the player (the zombie was the mob I used to test this). It basically allows you to create your own plugin using events or commands. You may also want to install WorldEdit and WorldGuard for easier building and protecting.įor advanced users, I would recommend CommandHelper. CommandBook (Similar to Essentials, but runs better IMO), Vault and BOSEconomy to handle money, maybe ChestShop so players can sell items, LWC so players can protect chest, uHome so you can set home and MyWarp so you can set warps. Once you understand how permissions work, you might want to get using some more plugins.įor example, HeroChat is a great chat plugin. It includes most of what you need to get you going and has Group Manager, a permissions plugin. ![]() They aren't mods because they don't ADD anything to the game code, they just manipulate events and objects already within the code.įor a beginner, I would recommend Essentials. (Or at least modloader)īukkit plugins run on the actual server. REI's minimap is a client side mod, requiring forge (I think) to be installed. ![]() As Zycro said, there are things which run on a client and things which run on the server. ![]()
